(I'm not an expert on the optical aspects of CDs, but I would think that the only possible benefit of SHM-CD would be to reduce the read error rate or perhaps make the disc more scratch-resistant. I have no idea whether it really is any better in an audible sense, but the data on the disc is still regular redbook CD. SHM-CD's are just CDs made with a different, allegedly superior plastic that is said to have better optical transparency than the plastic used on ordinary CD's. If you don't have an SACD player, then you can only play an SACD disc if it is a dual-layer disc with a standard CD layer - in which case you're just listening to the regular CD part, not the DSD SACD part. It stores data in DSD format rather than redbook audio. SACD is a different format that was introduced back around 2000 as a potential replacement for the CD. Does anyone else know more about this? I don't think the error rate with ordinary CDs is a problem, so what is SHM-CD really offering? Is it just marketing BS?)

The song is about the end of a relationship, where the girl recognizes that nothing is working for them any more and the guy finally grudgingly admits it as well, telling her to leave, to go hasten down the wind. I just always loved the imagery in that phrase– hasten down the wind– and thought it fit well with this piece. 6 The album earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female in 1977, her second of 13 Grammys.
